Tell Us Your Story and Why You Got Started

The inspiration for Therapy and Beyond started when founder Dr. Regina Crone’s family adopted her youngest brother from Russia. At eighteen months old, he had few sounds, little eye contact and displayed behaviors such as head-banging. Dr. Crone’s family began to see behaviors like lining up shoes or separated toys into color-coded piles on the floor. By age two, his obsession for structure along with poor communication skills led her family to seek professional help.

As the oldest of five children, she recalls her mother working tirelessly. From school district red tape to frustrated therapists who readily gave up, she ran into dead ends time and time again. Nonetheless, her perseverance paid off, when one dedicated therapist, using sign language taught her brother to speak. By the beginning of kindergarten, he was saying three-word sentences. By the end of that year, he’d risen to the highest reading group.

Seeing the Progression

Seeing the progression that her brother had made through the help of therapy, Dr. Crone admired the therapist for the time and care she had given him. Watching his communication skills and confidence grow inspired her to one day make a difference in other children’s lives. Most especially those that people tend to overlook.

From there came Therapy and Beyond, with the mission to help every child realize their highest potential. Above all, this allows them to remain true to their core values of excellence, responsibility, integrity, and professionalism. There is hope for every child. Our dedicated team combines ABA, speech, and occupational therapy to create unique individualized programs. These programs encourage family involvement and foster competence in the individual’s ability. They also help to generalize skills to the natural environments of home, school, and the community.

If Someone was Considering Your Services, What Would You Want Them to Know?

Applied Behavior Analysis is the most commonly recommended treatment for individuals with autism by physicians today.

We provide intensive, individual (Applied Behavior Analysis) ABA therapy in Dallas. We base our therapy on evidence-based research. Prior to starting therapy, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your child’s skills and deficits. After the evaluation, we provide a written report, including formal recommendations. A Behavior Analyst then works with you to create an individualized treatment plan focusing on all areas of development.

Additionally, these include behavior, language, social skills, cognition, and self-help. Moreover, we assign your child to a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst who oversees your child’s progress along with a team of therapists. Furthermore, as a whole we consider the family unit to be an important part of each child’s therapy program. Consequently, our goal is to help you become familiar with your child’s program. Ultimately, this makes it possible for you to carry over and implement these lessons in your everyday life.

Speech and Occupational Therapy

Along with ABA, we are practice speech and occupational therapy. Speech Therapy includes comprehensive evaluations. Areas covered include speech, language, sensory, and pragmatics. This provides individualized therapy in one-on-one settings to meet each child’s needs. Licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) provide therapy.

Firstly, the program covers sensory integration dysfunction of the oral motor structures. Additionally, it addresses issues related to feeding, social pragmatic language, articulation, receptive and expressive language, and auditory processing disorders. Moreover, for families who are receiving ABA therapy, collaboration with a Behavior Technician and a Speech Pathologist is available. Furthermore, to ensure success, both the ABA therapist and the SLP work together simultaneously on your child’s goals.

The Importance of Therapy for Individuals with Autism

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) navigate a unique set of challenges that can impact various aspects of their lives. Therapy plays a pivotal role in supporting individuals with autism, promoting their overall development, enhancing communication skills, and fostering a greater sense of independence. In this article, we explore the significance of therapy for individuals with autism and the positive impact it can have on their lives.

Early Intervention

Early intervention is crucial for individuals with autism. Therapy, when initiated at a young age, can help address developmental delays and provide essential skills that form the foundation for future learning and social interactions.

Communication Enhancement

Many individuals with autism face challenges in communication, ranging from speech delays to difficulties in understanding social cues. Speech therapy and other communication-focused interventions are instrumental in improving language skills, expressive abilities, and the understanding of non-verbal communication.

Social Skills Development

Social interactions can be complex for individuals with autism. Therapy sessions often incorporate strategies to enhance social skills, such as turn-taking, making eye contact, and interpreting social cues. These skills are vital for building meaningful connections and relationships.

Behavioral Management

Behavioral therapy is a key component in addressing challenging behaviors associated with autism. Therapists work collaboratively with individuals and their families to identify triggers, implement positive reinforcement techniques, and develop effective strategies for managing behavior.

Sensory Integration

Additionally, many individuals with autism experience sensory sensitivities or challenges in processing sensory information. As a result, occupational therapy can help individuals develop coping mechanisms and strategies to navigate sensory experiences, leading to increased comfort in daily activities.

Academic Support

Additionally, individuals with autism may benefit from tailored educational interventions. Moreover, specialized educational therapy can enhance academic skills, address learning challenges, and create an environment conducive to optimal learning.

Independence and Daily Living Skills

Therapy focuses on promoting independence and developing essential life skills. Furthermore, occupational therapists work on activities of daily living, fine motor skills, and self-care routines, empowering individuals with autism to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

Family Involvement and Support

Therapy is a collaborative effort that involves families and caregivers. Therapists provide guidance and support to families, equipping them with tools and strategies to reinforce therapeutic goals at home and create a supportive environment for the individual.

Emotional Well-being

Addressing the emotional well-being of individuals with autism is integral. Thus, therapists create a safe and nurturing space for emotional expression, helping individuals navigate and understand their emotions, leading to improved mental health.

Lifelong Benefits

The impact of therapy extends beyond immediate improvements, providing individuals with autism the tools and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of adolescence and adulthood, fostering a greater sense of self-confidence and independence.

Furthermore, therapy is a cornerstone in the comprehensive care and support for individuals with autism. In addition, by addressing a range of challenges and focusing on holistic development, therapy empowers individuals with autism to unlock their full potential, navigate the world with confidence, and lead fulfilling lives.
