A Special Strong trainer is different than your standard trainer. In addition to being a nationally accredited certified personal trainer, our trainers also go through our very own training program course through Strong Education. Here are some of the benefits you might experience by working with a Special Strong Trainer.
There are literally millions of personal trainers in the world who work with the general population. However, very few work with the special needs population. All of our Special Strong trainers are NCCA accredited, have clean background checks, and have extensive experience with the special needs population.
Our trainers work with the following conditions:
Part of our mission is to empower the special needs population to gain independence. For some, that means being able to walk again, gaining strength, or losing weight to allow them to do more things on their own.
A Special Strong trainer is able to provide you with strength and nutritional training which is designed to help you perform more activities on your own. This new found strength can add independence into other areas of your life. This has allowed many of our clients to hold part-time and full-time jobs where they were unable in the past.
3. Strength and Core Stability
In the special needs population, we have found that most of our clients lack physical strength, especially in the core musculature. Not only can this lead to more frequent injuries, but it often prevents them from being able to perform certain activities and maintain correct posture.
Our Special Strong trainers are experts on posture, core musculature, and the best customized exercises designed to strengthen the core and gain strength.

4. Customized Workouts
There are so many different conditions and special needs, so there is no “one size fits all” approach.
After our Special Strong trainer does their initial assessment, they will customize a program specifically designed with your condition in mind. You won’t get that anywhere else!
5. Stamina and Endurance
With many special needs conditions, stamina and endurance are often lacking. Some of it is due to the condition itself while some of it is due to inactivity.
By hiring a Special Strong trainer and participating in an ongoing exercise program, you can expect to see gains in energy, stamina, and endurance.

What to Expect
Special Strong created a very simple four-step process for every new client:
> Initial consultation with a certified personal trainer
> Perform a fitness assessment and Goal-Setting Session
> Design a customized lifestyle plan (for your diet and exercise program)
> Monitor Progress and Reassess Goals
STEP 1 INITIAL CONSULTAION
During the initial consultation, you will get to know your personal trainer. Your trainer will give you an overview of Special Strong and how we help our clients achieve success. Your trainer will also get a better understand of what kind of lifestyle changes your looking to make.
STEP 2 Fitness Assessment and Goal- Setting Session
All of our new clients will complete a fitness assessment questionnaire and will receive a fitness evaluation from one of our personal trainers. The fitness assessment and questionnaire will help us measure:
- Body Fat
- BMI (Body Mass Index)
- Physical Endurance
- Muscle Strength
- Sleep Patterns
After reviewing the results from your assessment, your trainer will help you establish both short-term and long-term goals.
STEP 3 Lifestyle Plan (Diet and Exercise)
Your trainer will discuss your diet and exercise. Based on your goals and needs, your trainer will create you a custom workout and determine how many times you need to train per week. These workouts will focus on strength, stability, conditioning, and flexibility. For additionally accountability, we will encourage you to monitor your food and exercise intake using myfitnesspal.com or loseit.com.
STEP 4 Monitor Progress and Reassess Goals
Your trainer is your accountability partner. They will help keep you on the right track with your lifestyle plan towards reaching your goals. As you start to reach your goals, your trainer will add more challenging workouts and increase the intensity of the program to see maximal improvement.
