AUsome Moms: DFW Autism Support

dfw autism support

Special Strong is now giving local businesses a platform to share how their services can make a difference for people with special needs. This service provider is AUsome Moms, a company for DFW Autism Support.

What do you do?

AUsome Moms was created to provide support, social opportunities, and education to families of children on the autism spectrum throughout the DFW metroplex. AUsome Moms is devoted to supporting local moms in our community and making a positive impact in their lives and the lives of their children.

AUsome Moms is made up of all volunteers.  We provide swimming scholarships, weighted blankets, Amazon kindles, and emergency grants to members.

AUsome moms hosts several community events throughout the year from swim and holiday parties to resource fairs.

AUsome Moms also hosts events specifically for moms from luncheons to monthly moms night out.  We also have a closed discussion Facebook support group page.

Tell us your story and why you got started.

AUsome Moms was started by Kelly Andrus shortly after her son was diagnosed at 18 months with autism.  She wanted a support group that was local and catered to women.  So what started as a local chat grew into a small Facebook group that now has over 2500 moms.

If someone was considering your services, what would you want them to know?

Our group is for moms and primary female care takers of a family member on the autism spectrum.  If you live in the DFW metroplex and are looking for resources and support, AUsome Moms is the group for you.
