DFW Autism Support by AUsome Moms – Special Strong

Special Strong is now giving local businesses a platform to share how their services can make a difference for people with special needs. This service provider is AUsome Moms, a company for DFW Autism Support.

What do you do?

AUsome Moms was created to provide support, social opportunities, and education to families of children on the autism spectrum throughout the DFW metroplex. At AUsome Moms, we devote our time and efforts to providing autism support in the DFW area for local moms. We believe in our community and making a positive impact in their lives and the lives of their children.

Special Strong Find a Location Near Me

At AUsome Moms, we understand the many struggles of moms of special needs children who are on the autism scale. We see each child as being unique in that they have their own struggles and talents. In the autism community, we say “If you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism.”

Nothing could sum up autism and special needs children better. Many use the term autism to describe a broad range of children on the autism scale. We believe there is more to these children than this. It is far too easy to lump everyone living with autism into one big melting pot. The only real problem we see is that in doing so, you take away each child’s sense of individuality. Just as there are no “cookie-cutter” treatments for this debilitating condition, there are no “cookie-cutter” children living with it.

A Lack of DFW Autism Support

When you have a child with autism, the lack of valuable help designed to assist them in achieving even the most basic of goals can be very frustrating. When we started AUsome Moms, our goal was to provide DFW autism support for children. We also designed it to provide support for the many hundreds of moms in our area. Especially those who are struggling to find the help they need to keep going.

Today, our DFW autism support group has a membership of more than 2,500 moms.

AUsome Moms is an all-volunteer group.  We provide swimming scholarships, weighted blankets, Amazon Kindles, and emergency grants to members.

AUsome Moms hosts several community events throughout the year from swim and holiday parties to resource fairs. Our goal is to help provide DFW autism support for the many families who have a child with autism.

AUsome Moms also hosts events specifically for moms from luncheons to monthly moms’ night out.  We also have a closed discussion Facebook support group page.

Tell us your story and why you got started.

AUsome Moms was started by Kelly Andrus shortly after her son was diagnosed at 18 months with autism.  She wanted a support group that was local and catered to women.  So what started as a local chat grew into a small Facebook group that now has over 2500 moms.

Empowering Families: DFW Autism Support by AUsome Moms”

In the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, a dedicated group of moms has come together to form “AUsome Moms,” a community-driven initiative providing invaluable support for families navigating the challenges of autism. AUsome Moms supports DFW’s autism community by promoting awareness, connection, and empowerment.

Supportive Community

AUsome Moms shines as a beacon of hope and camaraderie in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, offering a safe and welcoming space for parents and caregivers of individuals with autism. The organization realizes the power of a supportive community, especially for DFW Moms navigating the complexities of autism. Through well-organized regular meet-ups, events, and an engaging online presence, including forums and social media groups, families find solace and companionship amongst others on similar journeys. These gatherings and digital spaces not only allow for the sharing of personal stories and experiences but also foster a sense of belonging and understanding that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether it’s discussing day-to-day challenges, sharing small victories, or exchanging practical advice on navigating the autism journey, AUsome Moms ensures that no one has to face these challenges alone.

Resource Hub

In the heart of the DFW area, AUsome Moms emerges as a pivotal resource hub, dedicating itself to gathering and disseminating vital information and resources tailored to the needs of the local autism community. This initiative is crucial for DFW Moms who are continually seeking the best services, therapies, and educational opportunities for their children. By meticulously compiling a directory of autism-related services available in the DFW area, AUsome Moms alleviates the often overwhelming task of locating and accessing necessary support. This comprehensive resource center doesn’t just list options; it offers guidance and insights that empower families to make well-informed decisions that best suit their needs and circumstances. From early intervention programs to recreational activities designed for individuals with autism, AUsome Moms ensures that families have access to a broad spectrum of opportunities to enhance their loved ones’ quality of life.

Advocacy and Awareness

Beyond fostering a supportive community and serving as a resource hub, AUsome Moms champions advocacy and awareness efforts to make the DFW area more inclusive and understanding of autism. Recognizing the power of collective action, they spearhead initiatives aimed at educating the public, dismantling misconceptions, and advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with autism. Workshops, awareness campaigns, and collaborative efforts with local businesses and organizations are just some of the ways AUsome Moms works to bridge gaps between the autism community and society at large. These efforts not only benefit the individuals with autism and their families but also enrich the DFW community by fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion. For DFW Moms, this advocacy work is vital, ensuring that their children are recognized and valued as contributing members of society, with the same hopes, dreams, and rights as anyone else.

Educational Workshops

Additionally, AUsome Moms understands the importance of continuous education and therefore organizes workshops led by professionals in the field of autism. These informative workshops cover various topics, such as behavioral interventions, communication strategies, and the latest developments in autism research, providing parents and caregivers with valuable insights and tools to better support their loved ones.

Social Events for Individuals with Autism

In addition to supporting parents, AUsome Moms organizes social events tailored for individuals with autism. These events create inclusive spaces for socialization, recreation, and skill-building, fostering a sense of belonging and self-confidence in individuals on the autism spectrum.

Fundraising for Community Initiatives

AUsome Moms actively engages in fundraising efforts to support community initiatives focused on autism awareness, education, and inclusion. By organizing events and campaigns, they raise funds to contribute to local programs, services, and initiatives that benefit the DFW autism community.

Collaboration with Local Services

Through collaborative efforts with local service providers, schools, and healthcare professionals, AUsome Moms ensures a holistic approach to supporting families affected by autism. Furthermore, by fostering partnerships, they strengthen the availability and accessibility of autism services in the DFW area. Moreover, building on these collaborative efforts, AUsome Moms is a testament to the power of community, understanding, and advocacy.

Their multifaceted approach provides families with a comprehensive support system, empowering them to navigate the unique challenges and celebrate the strengths of individuals with autism in the vibrant DFW community. Moreover, AUsome Moms’ dedication reflects the resilience and strength that can arise from a united community effort.
